Training By Phone
"Hi Victoria. When Karalynn told me she found you on craigslist and wanted to take your dog training/behavior modification lesson over the phone, I thought she was out of her mind.
I did NOT want to do it! I felt certain this would be another Internet scam. But, she assured me, if it didn’t work, we wouldn’t have to pay. I thought the training would be a joke, really. I honestly could not envision how you could possibly teach us on the phone how to train our dog. Well, I am happy to write a testimonial for you. I am so proud of Tank. He has learned so much from our lesson. He is a much happier dog and we are much happier parents. Tank used to bark at everything that moved or made noise, and he also used to jump up on people (not that he would get very high as he is a wiener dog). As of the conclusion of the training, he now looks to us for direction. He has also quit jumping up on the couch whenever he decides to. He now asks permission. He is an amazing talent in our eyes. You have taught us how to change his bad habits and have given us the confidence to keep his training going. Tank thanks you and so do we. Thanks again, Victoria.

Hi Victoria. Thank you so much for our phone consultation. I can’t tell you how happy I am!
I tried techniques I learned on the Cesar Millan Dog Whisperer show and they did not work for my rat terrier, Hanna, and her aggression toward dogs in public.
When Hanna would be on leash during a walk, she was aggressive toward any other dog that came near her. She would growl, pull on the leash and bark at the other dog. It was a struggle for both of us and embarrassing for me. I am so excited I found you because your philosophy and methods make sense and Hanna made dramatic improvements in her long-standing aggression within 2 days of our lesson!
She’s not cured… we’re still working on it, but Man! What a difference! I am SO HAPPY and SO PROUD of Hanna because she is learning so fast…. it is AMAZING!
The rest of my family (who was skeptical about changing Hanna) can’t believe the quick results. A girlfriend gave me the DVD set of Dog Whisperer episodes for my birthday in February and I never opened them (at the time, I was watching his show on TV) and I recently came across them and instead of giving them to Goodwill, I threw them away so nobody else would use his forceful dog training techniques. I wish everybody knew there was a kinder and more effective way! I can’t wait to spread the word about your training to my animal-loving friends and family! I am going to recommend you to my parents, who live in Colorado. They have two little poodles who bark constantly and I am positive you can help them in a phone lesson. (And I know that if you can’t, there’s no charge.)
Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH…. your training has already changed our life with Hanna!

Victoria is amazing!!! I have to admit I was in disbelief when a friend referred me to her. Who ever heard of dog training over the telephone?!
But after working with Victoria, I am a true believer and am so thankful! Roxy learned all the basics including being able to calm herself and pay attention. We are ready to move on to the next phase of training and I am anxious to get started. In addition to training, Victoria is a wonderful resource and always has a calm and insightful way to solve any issues that arise.

4th Of July:
WOW, Victoria, you are my hero! I practiced the techniques you gave me, and Dickens wasn’t worried at all about the fireworks going off around our house before the 4th.
By the third night of fireworks, he showed absolutely no anxiety at all. Thanks to you, this 4th of July was not a time of frayed nerves and worry for me. It used to be just heart wrenching to watch my old dog fall apart during the fireworks. I wish everyone with a nervous dog would call you for a lesson. It was EASY and it made a world of difference in our lives. Thank you again!
New Year’s Eve:
Dickens did great during New Year’s Eve. Many neighbors celebrated with fireworks from 10 pm through 2 am. When they started he calmly came to me and sat by my feet. He was not anxious or upset. I practiced the techniques you gave me. No more fear, anxiety or shaking. He even went outside for his evening potty break and just looked back at me when another round of fireworks when off. Around midnight, he went into my son’s room, where he normally sleeps, and went to bed. Thanks again for making such a huge difference in our lives!

I wasn’t sure how dog training would work over the phone, but it worked perfectly. Victoria’s program is easy to follow, very informative and most of all, IT WORKS!!
I have a temperamental Mini Dachshund and I was skeptical about the degree of success I would have.
Victoria walked me through each step and was with me on the phone to coach me through the exercises with Sully. I was amazed to learn that some of my own behaviors had influenced the way my dog behaved. Some of the ideas are very basic in nature, but also things I would have never thought of. My dog was responding to the training after the first exercise.
I have since made a lot of progress on issues such as potty training, jumping, barking, whining, bullying my other dog, not listening, and riding in the car. I truly have the tools I need to train my dog to do ANYTHING now. Victoria has an easy-going personality, a flexible and patient demeanor and really wants you and your dog to succeed. I highly recommend her!

I was very hesitant to do Victoria’s lesson by phone.
I wanted her to come to my home but because my 11-month-old guy, Little Foot, is fearful of strangers, she convinced me it would work better over the phone instead of having her here, which we both knew would stress him out. It’s a 5½-hour lesson and I had a hard time seeing how we could do it by phone. But because she had a money-back guarantee, I decided to try it.
It worked great!
As an example, Little Foot has always been over-eager when it comes to food or treats. He got very excited and could hardly contain himself. But within less than fifteen minutes using Victoria’s techniques, he was laying down, perfectly focused on me despite the two treats (hot dog and cheese) sitting on his paws!
I am so proud of his progress and how quickly this lesson works. He is calmer in general, and regularly looks to me for direction. Thanks Victoria!

I have owned my dog grooming shop for 37 years and taught the “old school” force-style obedience training before that.
When I recently got my little Boston Terrier puppy, Buster, I contacted Victoria to learn her techniques of gentle training. We did her complete lesson by phone and I am still amazed at how easy it was! Buster was only 8 weeks old. Victoria’s extreme confidence and excellent coaching ability made the lessons easy to understand and go very smoothly. It’s a joy to have such a calm and willing puppy. Thanks, Victoria!

I wanted a lesson with Victoria, but unfortunately, it was a 4-hour trip from her home to ours in Medford. Victoria suggested something that sounded impossible. She wanted to teach me her lesson on the phone!
I was skeptical, as my 2-year-old, 65-pound Lab-mix, Buster, has always run roughshod over me. He was unpredictable, assertive and demanding. I didn’t see how I could train him by myself with only the help of a dog trainer on the telephone. Buster ruled my home. He jumped all over people who visited. At times he refused commands and was terrible on the leash. But after being unsuccessful at other traditional ways to train him, our family was all on board and committed to trying something new.
Victoria sounded perfect, and because she promised that if it didn’t work to our satisfaction, we wouldn’t have to pay, we agreed to try it. I was shocked!
As Victoria coached me over the phone, Buster IMMEDIATELY responded to the techniques. Within a very short time, this normally bouncy, pushy, jumping bean of a dog was calming himself. As Victoria led me through her methods, my dog changed before my eyes. Activities that have always set off his uncontrollable exuberance were now getting him to voluntarily and calmly lie down and look at me.
Before our telephone training, I could not get up in the morning without Buster jumping all over the bed as soon as I opened my eyes. He nipped at my bare feet all the way to the kitchen, demanding playtime and immediate attention. I would pour myself a cup of coffee and I could hardly make it into my chair in the living room without spilling it on the floor because he would jump up and bump into me before I was even awake. Buster’s extreme excitement when the leash came out discouraged us from taking him for walks and to the dog park because we just didn’t feel up to the jumping and pulling of the leash to get him there. We could not even take a picture of Buster because he was afraid of the camera and would run and hide as soon as we brought it out.
Victoria taught me how to get Buster over his fear of the camera and now he sits quietly for a picture! The very day after the lesson Buster began quietly and calmly greeting me in the morning. No more jumping and running across the bed, no more spilled coffee. No more nipping at bare feet. Buster sits quietly and waits for his food dish. Buster calms himself by voluntarily laying down when he wants something. Buster now looks to us for direction. Victoria’s lesson included teaching Buster to 'Leave It' and WOW! He actually does it!
It is a joy to live with this big dog when he is not the one calling the shots. The possibilities for Buster’s training are endless. We are grateful to have learned new ways to communicate with, and control, this big former bully named Buster!

WOW!!! Hi, Victoria. This morning I practiced the techniques you taught me, and Bella walked on a loose leash beautifully.
We walked over to a pond near my house. Lots of ducks and she always tries to get them. I used the methods while we were close to the pond and then gradually went closer. After a few minutes, I just kept reinforcing whenever she paid attention to me – which was all the time. Then we walked past the pond and some ducks who were on the bank just a few feet away.
She never pulled to get to them!!!
The only time she pulled was when the ducks went in the water and she wanted to smell where they had been sitting. Not to go after them!!! That’s huge for us. I’m excited that my friends Sue, Dick and Molly, are working with you. They are too. Thanks!

Victoria explained that because our dog, Scout, was afraid of people, she wanted to do our lesson by phone so he would not be stressed by her presence.
She said that acclimating him to people so he would be confident around them was a slow process and stressing him with a stranger’s presence in his home was overload and would be going too fast. She said she had a lot to teach us before introducing him to strangers. My heart dropped. There was no way we would be able to train our dog over the phone! We saw him as a real challenge, and knowing that Victoria would never even meet Scout made us nervous.
He was our dog, and we weren’t giving up on him, and we liked Victoria’s methods, so we decided to give it a try, especially because she said if it didn’t work, we wouldn’t have to pay. My husband was skeptical, but within ten minutes of the first lesson, our mouths hung wide open. Scout was calming himself and looking to me for direction. As the lesson continued over the phone, Scout listened to my words, and the more tasks we were given, the easier it became. I could not believe my eyes. Scout was patient, quick and above all, calm.
I quickly recognized how easy it would be to translate Victoria’s method, from walking Scout on the leash, to calming him when he interacts with other dogs, from playing fetch with him, to keeping him patient and out of the kitchen while we cook and eat. It has been one month since we finished our lesson with Victoria, and our relationship with Scout is incredible. We had wanted, more than anything, to learn the tools that we could use to keep Scout relaxed in every situation. And we have accomplished our goals. Learning Victoria’s tools (even over the phone!) was life changing, both for us and for Scout. He is happy, playful, and loving, and he continues to charm us each day.
Victoria’s training has given us one of the greatest gifts, a wonderful relationship with our dog, Scout. As each day passes, I continue to see how the initial methods she taught me can be adapted to everything I want to work on with Scout. He walks at my side now. It was a struggle. Our neighborhood is well-populated with dogs, distractions literally on every corner. Cats were running around, dogs were barking, and squirrels were everywhere! I practiced the methods Victoria taught me and now, four weeks later, we can go anywhere. We are working on the mailman coming every day. He is getting amazing, just grunts a little now, he used to bark with full throttle every time he saw him. He no longer growls at people or dogs passing by, and we are even walking past the crazy dogs that bark all day at everything, and Scout keeps his attention on me! I am so proud of him!!

Good job, all of you!
See? Training a dog by phone sounds crazy
- But it WORKS! (Or you don't pay.)
